From Little Acorns do mighty Oaks grow……
Saturday was workshops day at Nucleus Art Gallery in Maidstone, and my class was acrylic seascapes. A mother brought along her two lovely daughters, and a friend the youngest of which was just eight. The little girl was determined she would not be joining in and so I had to employ my best persuasion techniques which included flattery and my requesting her help.
How lovely it was to see her little face light up as she discovered that actually….this was kinda fun. She then became the most enthusiastic of the group and produced a gorgeous little seascape complete with seagulls, rocks and a rickety fence.
I was so pleased to receive an email from her mum today stating “Lucy wants to be an artist when she grows up” how lovely to think that she might have been a little bit inspired by her time at the workshop yesterday, who knows, a budding Picasso may have been born……..

The wind was howling, it snowed and the crashing waves would have put off columbus, but not me, there was no way I was going to come away empty handed. I braved the bluster and found just a few pieces, but it was enough to produce this little boat
